The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) is a Metropolitan Municipality that has exclusive and legislative authority within its area of jurisdiction which includes the former areas of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Despatch and portions of the former Western District Council which are situated in the Republic of South Africa. As part of its core developmental function, the NMBM is involved in facilitating, co-ordinating and creating an appropriate environment for economic, tourism and sport development in its region.
The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) was established as the development arm of the NMBM and has a specific mandate to facilitate tourism and infrastructure development. In its capacity as an agent of the NMBM the MBDA has been tasked to advertise, co-ordinate and facilitate this Request for Proposals (RFP) on behalf of the NMBM.
This RFP seeks the appointment of a dynamic, professional and multi-disciplinary stadium operator with a thorough knowledge and experience of stadium management; football, rugby and other sporting events; property development and national and international marketing expertise; to operate and manage Port Elizabeth’s new multi-purpose stadium ( developed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup SA™ ), as well as its surrounding urban precinct.
Interested parties wishing to submit proposals are invited to collect RFP documentation outlining the scope of work and requirements, and which are available at the offices of the MBDA, 7th Floor Kwantu Towers, Market Square, Govan Mbeki Avenue, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on payment of a non-refundable document fee of ZAR 10, 000 ( Ten Thousand South African Rand).
A briefing session is to be held on Friday 16 May 2008 at 09h00 at the MBDA’s offices. Respondents must ensure that five (5) bound copies of their proposals are received by the MBDA no later than 12h00 on Friday 25 July 2008 at their offices. Proposals must be clearly marked “ Nelson Mandela Bay Multi-Purpose Stadium Operator Bid”.
