A no-show would be a breach of league rules leaving the club open to fines and other penalties.
The players are reluctant to turn-out for the club because they have not been paid and there is some doubt over their insurance status.
Gretna's rise from non-league to the summit of Scottish football has been one of the great soccer stories of recent years. But the tiny club's progress was fuelled by the cash of millionaire backer Brooks Mileson who has been ill and withdrawn his financial support.
That leaves the club high and dry and under pressure from creditors including the Inland Revenue (the UK tax authority) which is chasing a $700,000 debt.
But, if Gretna can keep going beyond the weekend they could then pin their hopes on a big pay-day at home to Celtic the following weekend, while a number of investors are said to be interested in taking over the club.
