The broadcaster plans to have two presenting sponsors and six associate sponsors. Pepsi Co India, Hyundai and Nokia are already on board as associate sponsors, according to India’s Business Standard.
The two presenting sponsors will be showcased for about 250 seconds per match and the six associate sponsors for about 200-150 seconds of advertising time.
According to Business Standard’s sources, Sony is in talks with ICICI, the UB Group (which owns the Bangalore team), Future Group, ITC, TVS and Hero Honda for sponsorships.
According to UK press reports, the IPL will stage a second player auction within weeks amid mounting speculation that a number of English players are considering breaking ranks and declaring themselves available for next month's Twenty20 tournament.
