“We are very lucky that we can continue our successful co-operation with RTL over the next few years," said Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone. "During negotiations there was no doubt that RTL, as the most experienced Formula One broadcaster in Germany, was our first choice."
RTL has broadcast Formula One in Germany since 1991. The broadcaster had had to accept a 23 per cent drop in its average Formula One audience in 2007, the first season since the retirement of German legend Michael Schumacher. It attracted an average of 5.9 million viewers, against 7.62 million the year before.
