Six Nations coverage available on iPlayer

The BBC's television coverage of the Six Nations will be available via the iPlayer from this weekend.

The new deal is an extension to the BBC's existing contract with the Six Nations organising body for  tournament's the exclusive broadcast rights in the UK until 2013.

It is the first major sporting event covered by the broadcaster to be made available to broadband users via the iPlayer. Rugby fans will be able to watch full match coverage of all Six Nations games on their computers for seven days after they are broadcast live on the BBC's TV and radio networks. Six Nations matches will also be simulcast live on the BBC Sport website.

Earlier this month the BBC revealed that 3.5 million programmes had been viewed on the iPlayer after it launched its first marketing campaign for the broadband TV service.
