US naming rights firm sets up new division

Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, an affiliate of Nets Sports and Entertainment and the Nets basketball team, is launching a new venues, properties and consulting division.

In creating the division, Brooklyn Sports has formed a strategic alliance with Career Sports & Entertainment (CS&E), an integrated marketing, media and client management agency based in Atlanta.

“In launching our new division, and creating this alliance with Career Sports & Entertainment, we will be able to provide a wide-range of essential services to sports and entertainment companies, facilities and brands throughout the country,” said Brett Yormark, the president and CEO of Nets Sports and Entertainment and its Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment affiliate.

“By leveraging Career Sports & Entertainment’s expertise in measurement and strategic consulting, along with our demonstrated success last year in generating two naming rights sponsorships in the nation’s number one media market, and with deep public relations and marketing experience, we feel that we are well-suited to provide significant support in these areas.”

In 2007, Brooklyn Sports secured two naming rights agreements: Barclays Center, the planned sports and entertainment arena in Brooklyn that will be the home of the Nets; and the IZOD CENTER, formerly known as the Continental Airlines Arena at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Career Sports’ property consulting division has provided strategic consulting services to the Nets for three years.

Initial clients for the division include: Foxwoods Resort Casino, which is seeking a naming rights partner for its new theatre opening at MGM Grand at Foxwoods; and the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP), the pro beach volleyball tour, which is seeking a naming rights partner for its stadium courts at all of its 18 tour stops, which will broadcast on NBC Sports and on cable networks.
