Premiere to fight Sirius broadcast plans

Pay-TV company Premiere AG said it will fight plans to sell ready-to-air Bundesliga shows.

The plan by Germany's top football league, the DFL, and the Bundesliga rights owner Sirius, aims to attract bids from broadcasters that do not have the capacity to produce their own shows.

Premiere executive Carsten Schmidt said that as a potential buyer, Premiere should have the right to control the way in which games are presented to viewers.

Schmidt said that Premiere had sent a letter to the German Cartel Office denouncing the bundled offer as anti-competitive.
