Manchester United reassert financial dominance

Manchester United is set to announce a record gross turnover of £245 million for the year to June 30, 2007.

The figures will be confirmed on Thursday night, when the club is expected to report over £200 million turnover from its "core football activities", eclipsing figures announced by Premier League rival Arsenal. The north London club posted a record-breaking turnover of £200.8 million - significantly more than the £168 million announced by United in 2007.

United's massive increase in income last season can be explained by two factors; success on the pitch, leading to a increase in revenue from TV rights and the expansion of Old Trafford.
