Russia's biggest businesses back Moscow's 2010 Youth Olympic Games bid

Thirteen major companies signed up as corporate supporters of Moscow’s bid to bring the 2010 Youth Olympic Games to Russia.

The list includes businesses involved in banking, energy supply, tourism, the food industry, residential development, diamond production and commercial airlines transport.

They are providing support and technical expertise, which will boost the city’s potential in social and economic benefits associated with hosting the Youth Olympic Games.

Alexei Sorokin, strategic director for Moscow’s bid noted: ““Russian sport, politics and economics are acting as one to help bring the 2010 Youth Olympic Games to our nation and the corporate supporters are committed and proud to be so actively engaged in our efforts. We are delighted to have such a prestigious group of companies backing the bid”.

“Moscow's position as a leading European and global centre for business development will also offer great commercial opportunities and will benefit the global image of the Youth Olympic Games, should the IOC vote Moscow as host for the first Games in 2010”, said Alexander Chernov the bid’s external affairs director.

The companies are the Bank of Moscow, Sberbank, Aeroflot, Wimm Bill Dann, Red October confectionary, Detsky Mir, INtourist, Onexim group of companies, Sibir Energy, PIK, Mirax Group, Alrosa and Inteco.
