The new company will be called Canal Plus Events and will be integrated into the publishing division of Groupe Canal Plus, within the Directorate of Sports headed by Alexandre Bompard.
The unit will remain directed by Gilles Moretton a former professional tennis player, who heads up Occade Sport.
Canal Plus hopes to "strengthen the presence of the group" in the world of sport and develop its upstream activities in the production and editing of sports events, Vivendi said.
Occade Sport organises the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon and the Lyon Marathon, as well as running Lyon basketball club ASVEL basketball club.
Canal Plus will acquire all of Occade Sport’s shares from Gones & Sports by the end of February, Vivendi said.
