LG consider return to cricket sponsorship

LG Electronics said it is considering a return to cricket sponsorship after having pulled out of the sport earlier this year.

LG, which was an official sponsor of the International Cricket Council’s World Cup 2007, in the West Indies, had said in April that it was no longer keen to sponsor cricket and would prefer golf instead.

But the company now says it will take a final decision in the next two to three months. LG India’s managing director Moon Bum Shin told the Indian press that the company is currently working on the cost benefits involved in sponsoring cricket. “Cricket is a very important game in India and we acknowledge that. We are in talks internally to decide whether we should be sponsoring the game once again.”
