The company, created in 2000, became profitable just three years after its creation and has boosted its revenues by more than 60 per cent over the last two years, up from $236 million in 2005.
MLBAM not only manages baseball’s online and digital assets, but also manages the online content of several other sports leagues. By end 2007, MLBAM will have streamed more live events - over 12,000 - than any other website in the world.
MLBAM is owned by all of the MLB’s 30 clubs, which each put in $2.7 million at its inception, and the profits are split equally between them.
