Barclays signs Sky Sports rugby broadcast sponsorship

Barclays Commercial Bank has inked a broadcast sponsorship deal with Sky Sports’ rugby union coverage for the 2007/08 season.

Barclays Commercial Bank will receive 15 second spots in all opening and closing title sequences of Sky Sports rugby programmes, plus five second ‘break bumpers' running either side of all commercial breaks.

Barclays Commercial Bank will also receive on-air logos on Sky Sports promotions of its rugby programming and verbal references across the sponsorship period.

The sponsorship is part of Barclays biggest ever integrated marketing campaign to support the launch of Barclays Commercial Bank, which has been re-branded from Barclays Business Banking.

“We believe that our new identity has greater resonance with existing and target customers who span mid-size and larger businesses across the UK,” said Richard French, Marketing Director, Barclays Commercial Bank. “Our new broadcast sponsorship with Sky Sports rugby, and our wider marketing campaign, reflects the forward thinking that is at the very heart of Barclays Commercial Bank offering.”

Barclays Commercial Bank now sponsors all Sky Sports’ dedicated rugby union coverage: the Guinness Premiership, Heineken Cup, European Challenge Cup, International Rugby, Worldwide domestic competitions including Tri Nations, Super 14, the Air New Zealand Cup, the Currie Cup and The Rugby Club and Total Rugby magazine programmes.
