Spanish court rules in Mediapro- Sogecable battle

A Spanish court ruled that Mediapro must acquire the TV rights for Spanish football’s Primera Liga from Sogecable’s Audiovisual Sports in order to continue broadcasting league coverage.

According to Spanish media reports, the ruling, from a court of first instance, helps back Sogecable’s claim that it holds the rights to all games. But Mediapro is quoted as saying it intends to continue showing matches without making payments.

Mediapro is showing matches via Spanish free-to-air channel La Sexta.
