New stadium completed in Ghana

The 20,000-capacity Essipong Sports Stadium Complex in Ghana - one of the match venues for the African Cup of Nations - has been completed.

The stadium was built by the Chinese firm, Shangai Construction Company, and handed over to the Western Regional Coordinating Council within the stipulated time of 20 months.

Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports said the stadium was completed at a cost of $38.5 million.

The Shangai Construction Company will leave behind a skeleton staff to maintain the stadium and offer 12 months maintenance training to Ghanaians to take over from them.
