Barclays Spaces for Sports unveils new facility

The Barclays Spaces for Sports programme has opened a new £600,000 community sports facility in Liverpool with the backing of Everton FC.

The cash injection from Barclays and the Football Foundation into the new Arncliffe Sports Centre is part of a £30 million investment from the Barclays Spaces for Sports initiative to create sustainable sports facilities across the UK.

The Arncliffe project will receive a further £45,000 from Barclays to ensure the sustainability of the site plus kit and equipment worth £5,000.

Since its launch in September 2004, Barclays Spaces for Sports has opened more than 180 sites and awarded more than 3,800 coaching packs to local communities up in the UK, giving half a million disadvantaged people the opportunity to benefit from sport.

Barclays Spaces for Sports is a partnership between Barclays, the Football Foundation and Groundwork, the federation of trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
