Lewinton to quit Virgin Media for legal business

Peter Lewinton is to relinquish his role of head of sport at Virgin Media in the New Year to focus on his legal training business, legaltraining.tv.

Lewinton joined Virgin Media in March this year and has played a key role in developing and implementing the strategy which has shaped the channel’s online sports offering.

“This was a tough call as both businesses are in very exciting positions in their own marketplaces. Lewinton said. “In the last year we have established Virgin Sport as a significant player, developing a creatively conceived and executed programme offering which complements fans’ experiences of their favourite sports and events and perhaps for the first time combining FAPL and Football League content online. Lewinton continued, "I am sure that Virgin will become an even stronger and more influential presence in the sports media market in the years to come.”

Among other projects, Lewinton has been responsible for negotiating and managing significant rights agreements deals with both the FA Premier League and Football League, making Virgin Media a leading destination for soccer fans of the 92 clubs covered by the agreements.
