During the event, Volkswagen will promote their involvement with the ‘Carbon Neutral Project’ in which Volkswagen will offset the carbon emission for one year of every new Volkswagen purchased in the US from the start of September 2007 to January 2, 2008.
"The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon is a great opportunity for Volkswagen, our dealer partners, our customers and the whole community to come together in a celebration of endurance, stamina and determination," said Stuart Karp, Volkswagen central region director.
As in previous races, Volkswagen will award a new vehicle should a runner breaking a world record. Over the years, three vehicles have been awarded to record-breaking competitors in the race.
