KAREN EARL APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF ESA

Karen Earl was elected as Chairman of the European Sponsorship Association (ESA). She takes over the role from Nigel Currie of brandRapport, who recently stepped down from the position which he had held for five years.

Helen Day remains as Vice-Chairman of the Association, whilst Henri van der Aat has decided to step down as Vice-Chairman after four years in the position. The Board will appoint a joint Vice-Chairman in due course.

At its recent AGM, ESA elected five Directors to its Board. Of these, three were re-elected - Nick Johnson of Osborne Clarke, Richard Moore of Capitalize and Henri van der Aat of Trefpunt - and two new directors were elected - Steve Cumming of Diageo and Karen Earl of Karen Earl Sponsorship.

Karen Earl said, "I'm delighted to have been voted in as Chairman. Having been instrumental in the creation of ESCA in the early '90s - the forerunner of ESA, I feel very excited about taking over the reins from Nigel Currie, who has done such a good job in developing and promoting ESA over the past 13 years.

“ESA is now firmly established as a powerful force in the protection and promotion of the interests of the sponsorship industry across Europe. My vision is to further strengthen that position, placing ESA alongside similar trade associations representing other industries within the marketing and communications industries".

Karen will be speaking to members at Future Sponsorship, ESA's annual conference in Brussels, on November 8th and 9th. Full details on the programme and line-up of speakers can be found by visiting www.esa-events.com
