Bank of Nova Scotia hitches up with the NHL

Bank of Nova Scotia agreed a five-year deal with the National Hockey League, becoming the official bank of both the NHL and its players' association.

The cost of the deal was not disclosed but it is reported to be worth an estimated C$50-million, including a $5-million annual rights fee and about the same amount each year for advertising, incentives and other marketing costs.

According to reports Scotiabank wants the deal to raise its profile and boost its share of the Canadian consumer banking market.
