According to Rapidtvnews.com, EM.Sport Media has bought a stake in Premiere Star, the marketing and distribution platform for third party broadcasters launched by German pay-TV operator Premiere.
EM.Sport has acquired a five per cent stake in the platform, which was launched on September 1, for a single-digit million euro figure.
Meanwhile, Plazamedia, the EM.Sport Media production subsidiary, extended its service provision contract with Premiere until the end of 2013, securing additional contractual income in the low three-digit million euros.
The agreement covers transmission services for Premiere’s sports programmes and HDTV offers as well as production services for live transmissions of the soccer Bundesliga, Champions League and Formula 1.
EM.Sport Media subsidiary Deutsches SportFernsehen has also acquired a sports rights package from Premiere for distribution on free-to-air, pay-TV and IPTV platforms for a low single-digit million euro figure.
The agreement includes, amongst other rights, the non-exclusive transmission of highlights from the UK’s Premier League football until 2009/2010.
