And with a last-minute rush of entries expected before next Friday’s revised deadline, there is certain to be fierce competition in each of the nine categories.
The SportBusiness ISEMS Awards have been introduced to recognise best practice, innovation and excellence in nine of the key disciplines which contribute to the success of a major sports event.
To date, entries include those for work carried out on projects including FIFA World Cup 2006, the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, Cricket World Cup 2007 and IRB Rugby Sevens. In addition, judges will review entries based on many other events where fresh-thinking and problem solving by event management specialists have added significant value and set new standards.
The Awards will be presented at Wembley Stadium on October 31st during a ceremony following the close of the conference programme of Day One of the International Sports Event Management and Security (ISEMS) 2007.
Entries will be considered by an experienced judging panel during early October and short-listed entrants will be notified by the middle of the month.
“The awards are intended as a showcase for the work of specialists who play such an important role in making sport the powerful social and commercial force it is today,” said Nigel Rushman, managing director of ISEMS organisers Rushmans.
“With so much competition for leisure time and spend, attending a sports event has to be a unique and memorable experience and this sector is responding to the challenge by continuously finding new and exciting ways of improving the event experience for spectators, the media, sponsors, officials and competitors alike.”
