The club was in talks with potential rights-buyers but decided to get outside help. The Indians play at Jacobs Field, which was named after owner Richard E. Jacobs when it opened in 1994. Jacobs, who sold the team in 2000, owned the rights through the 2006 season.
However the value of the sale may be to limited since it relates the renaming of an existing stadium, rather than a new-build according to US sponsorship experts. IMG will look on a national, regional and local level for a company to put its name on the ballpark, the Indians said in a statement.
