ITN signs Setanta Sports News contract

UK television news company, ITN, will produce a new 24-hour sport news channel jointly owned by Setanta Sports and Virgin Media.

Last month, TWI pulled out of negotiations to work on the channel, which will be called Setanta Sports News, after talks had reportedly reached an advanced stage.

The new channel will focus on key sports iuch as football, rugby, horse racing, cricket, golf, boxing, and motor racing and will initially be available to Virgin Media’s three million digital subscribers across the UK later this year and to a wider audience from early next year.

The production of Setanta Sports News will create 56 new editorial and production positions at ITN, which also supplies news to ITV and Channel Four.
