The Indian Hockey Federation has proposed the 2007 Champions Trophy be held in the city of Chennai, if the tournament is moved from Pakistan on security grounds.
The Indian Hockey Federation submitted its bid for the event last week, but the International Hockey Federation has also advised Malaysia to submit their bid.
Fears grow more nations could follow Australia and South Korea’s lead and withdraw from the tournament over safety concerns.
Chennai hosted the Champions Trophy in 1996 and 2005.
