Barclays sponsors Dubai Tennis Championships

Barclays, the global banking group is the new title sponsor of the annual Dubai Tennis Championships.

The $9 million, three-year agreement with the tournament organisers Dubai Duty Free (DDF) will start from the 2008 Championships and will continue for three years until 2010.

Colm Mcloughlin, managing director of Dubai Duty Free said: “We are delighted to announce Barclays’ title sponsorship and we believe it takes our tournament to a new level.”

Ahmed Khizer Khan, CEO of Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Banking Emerging Markets said: “We are delighted to sponsor the tournament. Barclays has an extensive portfolio of sponsorships around the world, and our very first professional tennis sponsorship is a great addition.”

The first DDF-run tournament was in 1993, and the championship grown in to a two-week world-class event.
