Ski world championship rocked by resignation

The chief executive of the 2009 Alpine Ski World Championships has resigned from the organising committee.

Jean-Paul Pierrat follows hot on the heels of Jean-Claude Killy who quit two months ago from the role of chairman.

Pierrat says he made the decision to leave due to frustrations over the lack of progress of work in French resort Val d’Isere on the facilities for the event.

He will work his notice period and leave in January.
Speaking to the French media, he said: “Work on the pistes have progressed, but as far as all the other facilities are concerned, nothing happens.”
