Dein ready to strike after Russian share sale?

Another Russian billionaire has moved into a powerful position at a top London Premier League soccer club – with Arsenal this time the team involved.

With Roman Abramovich’s splurge on Chelsea changing the face of the game, now Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov is joining in with a £75m deal to acquire a stake in the north London side.

He bought the 14.58 percent stake from former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein through his Red and White Holdings company.

The firm was set up with London-based investor Farhad Moshiri to invest in the club. Dein will now become chairman of the organisation, prompting speculation he will look to further grow his stake in the club although rumours of a takeover has so far been denied.

Dein left Arsenal in April in a shock move. He quit after club chiefs failed to support a takeover by US businessman Stanley Kroenke.
