WORLD SPORTS GROUP WINS INDIAN CRICKET RIGHTS

Singapore-based World Sports Group (WSG) has won the sponsorship rights to part of international cricket in India after bidding $42 million for the next three years.

According to press agency reports, WSG will hold title and ground sponsorship rights for Test and one-day cricket played in India up to March 2010.

“There will be 55 matches covered by the bid,” Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Lalit Modi was reported as saying. “The winning bid is three times over the last contracted bid.”

WSG outbid two competing Indian firms - Percept and Nimbus - to secure the rights Mr Modi said.
