PORTSMOUTH SIGNS DEAL WITH PREMIERGOALS

Premier League club Portsmouth agreed a deal with PremierGoals for the club’s mobile and internet rights in China.

The three-year deal was set up by IMG Media, the club’s global distribution and production partner. Under the deal, the club will launch a new site in Mandarin before the end of the year. PremierGoals will also explore mobile opportunities for the Club in China.

Much of the editorial and content will mirror that of the Club’s existing site but there will also be additional material written and edited in China.

Bruce Vandenberg, Chief Operating Officer, Portsmouth FC, said: “The Chinese market is huge and one we are very keen to tap into. Our aim is to grow the Portsmouth brand worldwide and we believe there is an appetite for keeping Chinese football fans up to date with news from the club.

Commenting on the Chinese market, Henrik Barck, co-founder & CEO PremierGoals Ltd, said: “The backdrop to PremierGoals decision to promote football in China is the country’s explosive growth in Internet use. According to Internet worldwide statistics, there are currently, around 137 million Internet users in China. Mobile phone users are at 480 million.
