BMC CONSIDERING ASTANA CYCLING SPONSORSHIP

Swiss bike manufacturer BMC is reviewing its sponsorship of the Astana cycling team after team rider Alexander Vinokourov failed a drugs test at this year’s Tour de France, beleaguered with doping scandal after doping scandal.

"We do not want to have anything to do with doping," said Andreas Georgiadis of ISH International Sport Holding AG, which coordinates BMC's sponsorship activities.

"Our aim in sport sponsorship is to offer riders the best material and technical conditions for their success," said Andreas Georgiadis, CEO of ISH International Sport Holding AG, which coordinates BMC's sponsoring activities.

Vinokourov failed a drugs test after winning Saturday's time trial, and his team immediately pulled out of the Tour. BMC provides bikes for the Astana team.
