There is growing speculation that French media group Vivendi could be interested in a takeover of German pay-TV broadcaster Premiere according to various media reports.
Premiere shares were up five per cent as a result of the rumours. Premiere last week regained live TV rights to show Bundesliga matches for the next two seasons after regulatory approval was given for its accord with cable television operator UnityMedia.
Premiere had lost out to UnityMedia in an auction for the rights in December 2005.
Premiere chief executive Georg Kofler said Premiere had routinely been approached by potential bidders in the past.
