The AST has been established by BG Tunisia with the International Triathlon Union (ITU), global parter BG Group and Tunisia’s Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The development of AST fulfils the ITU Sport Development Programme key goals, to increase the number of national federations of the Olympic sport.
The main role of the non-profit organisation will provide opportunities for all Tunisians to participate at any level.
“This is a really exciting day for sport in Tunisia. We have adopted one of the fastest growing sports and it’s really exciting to think of the opportunities this can create for our country from grassroots to elite levels” said Abdelbacet Abdouli, President of AST.
AST has established a triathlon club called Sfax Tri Club with 40 athletes ranging. Office and sports equipment and volunteers have been provided by BG Tunisia.
