SANZAR RUGBY UNIONS FEEL WRATH OF BROADCAST PARTNERS

According to reports the SANZAR rugby unions have been warned by their national broadcast partners that a repeat of this season’s selection policy – in which under-strength sides were fielded - would not be tolerated.

The Australian, New Zealand and South African unions met with representatives from Sky Sports (New Zealand), Fox Sports (Australia) and SuperSport (South Africa) at a two-day SANZAR strategy review meeting in Christchurch.

Their warning was a response to New Zealand resting their top All Blacks in the first seven rounds of the Super 14 and South Africa sending a touring squad to Australia and New Zealand that did not include 20 of their best players. Both unions justified these decisions on the need to prepare for the World Cup.
