RFL RE-APPOINTS IMG MEDIA

The RFL, the governing body of Rugby League, extended its existing contract with IMG Media, its exclusive worldwide media agency. The deal covers all media rights including TV, radio, DVD, IN-flight, ship-at-sea and new media.

IMG Media will assist the RFL with the domestic negotiations of new broadcast contracts and media-related opportunities. In addition IMG Media has committed to increase international distribution and exposure of British Rugby League. IMG media will distribute all Super League, Challenge Cup and International matches.

The announcement follows the appointment of IMG Media, by The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF), as exclusive sales agents for the international TV rights to the Rugby League World Cup, 2008.

Richard Lewis, Executive Chairman of the RFL, said “This is a continuation of an extremely successful partnership, that has gone from strength to strength. Rugby League is enjoying significant growth, with our participation numbers doubling in the last two years. Working with IMG Media, we will be able to build on our existing fan base to connect with a larger sporting audience on a worldwide basis.”
