SPANISH FOOTBALLL COULD BE SET FOR PAY TV WAR

Mediapro officially announced it had agreed TV rights deals with 39 Spanish football clubs, a claim heavily disputed by pay-TV rival Sogecable, which says it holds numerous contracts with clubs running until 2013.

Sogecable holds the rights via rights brokering company Audiovisual Sport and, according to reports, said it would file criminal charges against Mediapro and any other party supporting its claims.

Mediapro has previously announced deals for the TV rights for among other clubs Barcelona, Real Madrid Athletic Bilbao and Real Zaragoza.
