The programme is designed to increase participation in baseball and softball, encourage academic achievement, develop self-esteem, and teach the value of teamwork. The new relationship marks the first time the national RBI programme has had a presenting sponsor.
During the course of the multi-year agreement, KPMG will work with MLB to enhance and expand the RBI program through financial contributions, management assistance, and volunteer hours. KPMG will also have representation on a national RBI Board. In addition to their partnership fees, KPMG will annually contribute $1,000,000 toward the support of RBI programmes as well as work with MLB to facilitate the development of baseball, softball and life skills through its corporate citizenship program.
"We are very pleased to have a new partner join the MLB family in such a unique and significant way," said Tim Brosnan, Executive Vice President, Business, Major League Baseball. "RBI is a cornerstone youth outreach program for MLB. As such, Major League Baseball and KPMG are committed to increasing the capacity of this program so, together, we can provide even more of our "inner city" youth with the opportunity to grow and build a better future for themselves."
