UK SPORTS MINISTER TO HOLD TALKS ON PREMIER LEAGUE FOREIGN OWNERS

UK sports minister Richard Caborn will today have talks with English football’s senior stakeholders, including the Premier League, the Football Association and the Football League over the increase of foreign owners at the country’s top clubs.

According to Reuters reports, Caborn will meet with English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore, English FA chairman Geoff Thompson and Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney to discuss concerns over the trend.

Seven of the Premier League's 20 clubs are now owned by foreign investors with an eighth, Manchester City the subject of a bid from former Thai Premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Caborn is reported to want to go over the details of the "fit and proper person test" used for potential club owners and directors of English clubs.
