The IAAF Congress will meet in Osaka on the August 2007 22 and 23, a few days prior to the opening of the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in the city (25 Aug to 2 Sep), in order to give their votes in the elections to decide the composition of IAAF Council and various IAAF Committees.
Significantly there is only one candidate for the position of President, the incumbent Lamine Diack and that is also the case for the role of Honorary Treasurer for which Jean Poczobut (FRA) is the only candidate.
There are eight nominees for the four positions of Vice Presidents; six names have been put forward for the four seats as Female Individual Members; 29 names are contesting the eleven positions available for Individual Members.
