INTER CHIEF DENIES ACCOUNTING CLAIMS

The owner of Italian soccer giants Inter Milan has dismissed suggestions the club falsified accounts prior to the 2005-6 season.

Reports in the Italian media suggest both Inter and rivals AC Milan face a probe into claims they altered the value of non-first team players traded between the two sides in order to boost their financial status.

Inter chief Massimo Moratti said: “We are not concerned about the investigation into our accounts. We are careful not to make mistakes. We will produce the evidence to clear this matter.”

Even if found guilty, there would be no points deducted of titles stripped – instead they would face a hefty fine.
