PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has urged the sport to crack down on the use of performance enhancing drugs by implementing one universal policy.
Finchem has fiercely defended the sport from suggestions in the past of any inappropriate drug use, but admits going into the future it must have a clear strategy.
He said: “We as a sport need to move together on a global basis.
“In many parts of the world now the idea of testing in athletics is a reality because it is government required.”
He called on the various golf organisations to draw up testing criteria for the game.
