NFL BROADCASTERS WANT LEAGUE TO BRING SPONSORS TO SUPERBOWL

The National Football League’s TV rights holders are reported to be unhappy that the league is not doing more to get its official sponsors to advertise in the Super Bowl.

According to US press reports, the broadcasters are angry that during the most recent Super Bowl on the CBS network, only six of the NFL’s 21 official sponsors ran adverts. Many advertise during the regular season and playoff games, but are not regular Super Bowl advertisers.

The price for a 30-second slot during the Super Bowl is around $2.6 million. And the NFL is reported to have made it clear that getting advertising on board for the Super Bowl is the networks’ problem. Over the past three Super Bowls, NFL sponsors are reported to have bought 20 per cent of in-game advertising time.
