Chief Operating Officer, Martin Kallen, said "we are very much ahead of previous tournaments at the same stage," in an interview with Reuters, as celebrations got underway to mark the year’s countdown until the start of the event on June 7.
Planning he said was around 90 per cent done and implementation at around 65 per cent, with four of the eight stadia already complete or almost complete and the remaining stadia set to be completed by September 2007.
But Kallen stressed the need to maintain the momentum and work hard on the details in the coming months.
