In February and March this year, the 13-member Commission, headed by IOC Vice-President Chiharu Igaya, visited and assessed the ability of three Candidate Cities - PyeongChang (South Korea) Sochi (Russia) and Salzburg (Austria) - to stage the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
In each city the Evaluation Commission took an in-depth look into 17 different themes such as transport, accommodation, technology, media operations, environment and meteorology, finance, security, sport and venues and Olympic village(s).
The Commission’s findings, obtained through briefings and on-site visits, will be summarised in the technical report published today and submitted to all IOC members.
The election of the Host City will take place during the 119th IOC Session in Guatemala City on July 4, 2007.
