MACAU 2007 SIGNS SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH SINA.COM

The Organising Committee for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games (MAIGOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed a sponsorship agreement with Chinese's leading online media company SINA Corporation.

Under the deal, SINA becomes the Official Sponsor and Internet Sponsor for Macau 2007. Under the agreement, SINA wins the exclusive rights to host, develop and operate the Official Games website.

Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Mr. Husain Al-Musallam said, "We are very pleased to have entered into this agreement with SINA, the most recognised internet brand name in China. As the Indoor Games aims to encourage a higher level of sport participation among the youth of Asia, the internet is a key platform to share the vision of the OCA and spread the news of the Games to ensure greater awareness, participation and support".

Director of Sina Sport of Sina Cooperaton Mr Hu Weili commented, "We feel privileged to be selected by MAIGOC for an international sporting event of this magnitude and are committed to provide the most superior technological support which is vital for the Games. Our alignment with the Olympic Council of Asia as the governing body of sport in Asia; also represents an important next step in our sport sponsorship strategy to help further distinguish SINA as the leading online media company in China".

It is expected that the new version of the official website will be more extensive than the one maintained in the 4th East Asian Games in 2005. Organised biannually, the second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, from 26 October to 3 November 2007, consisting of 17 competing sports and 2 demonstration sports, with expected NOC participation from 45 countries throughout all regions of Asia.
