Hester joins Castrol from T-Mobile where for nearly 10 years he ran the brand sponsorship programme including UEFA EURO 2004TM and FIFA World Cup 2006 sponsorship, as well as endorsement of Robbie Williams.
At Castrol, his role will focus on managing the UEFA partnership; delivering a world class European Championship Finals experience in Austria and Switzerland next summer for Castrol customers; and ensuring the sponsorship provides the maximum return on investment for the business. He will be reporting into BP Lubricants Europe’s Head of Marketing Services, Vijay Solanki.
“I’m delighted to be joining Castrol at such an exciting time,” said Hester. “Castrol has a tremendous heritage in motor sport sponsorship but is obviously new to football, so I hope to use my experience to quickly establish it as a credible brand in the game across Europe.”
