The West African Football Union (Wafu) agreed a US$4 million sponsorship deal with telecoms company Globacom.
The deal was agreed by Wafu president Amos Adamu. Adamu has also brought in Nigerian banks, Oceanic and Spring as sponsors.
Adamu election as the president of Wafu in Accra in April is being contested by the Ivory Coast's Jacques Anouma, who was given a vote of confidence at separate meeting in Abidjan. But the Confederation of African Football seems to be backing Adamu.
