Pan-Asian pay-broadcaster ESPN Star Sports is launching Star Cricket, a dedicated cricket channel in India.
The channel is set to launch in June and will be the 15th network launched by ESPN Star Sports in the Asia-Pacific region and the third channel for India.
The channel will be the second dedicated channel alongside Nimbus Communications’ Neo Sports channel.
ESPN Star Sports acquired the rights for the International Cricket Council (ICC) including the next two World Cups in a $1.1 billion deal. It is thought likely to bring in a lot of international cricket, including a number of twenty-twenty formats. It already holds rights for Test-playing nations such as England and Australia.
