UK FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION CLOSE TO TV DEAL

The English Football Association is expected to announce a new TV deal later this week.

It is reported in the UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper that the deal could be a record-breaking one for the rights for FA Cup and England matches.

The deadline for broadcasters bidding for rights was Friday and it is thought the FA could bring close to £400 million over four-years, round £100 million more than its current deal with BBC and Sky, which expires at the end of next season.

The BBC and Sky have tabled a joint bid and are up against a bid from commercial broadcaster ITV.
