HAVAS SPORTS EXPANDS WITH UK SPONSORSHIP AGENCY

Havas Sports, the global sports marketing division of Havas Media, acquired independent UK agency Sponsorship Media, as part of its international expansion.

The purchase for an undisclosed sum, came as Havas Sports was seeking a foothold in the UK ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Sponsorship Media clients include EDF Energy, Asda and Friends Provident and the company last year reported profits of around £1 million. Sponsorship Media has offices in France, Spain, India and China. The London office will become Havas Sports.

Sponsorship Media’s chief executive Keith Impey will become chief executive of Havas Sports, while Sponsorship Media's co-founder Marcus Wight becomes managing director.

Havas Sports is based in Paris with offices in Spain, India and China. Its clients include Coca-Cola, Orange and Unilever.
